Transform chairman named Chair of Triathlon England
Triathlon England has announced the appointment of Bill James, the Chairman of consulting firm Transform, as the new Chair of its Board. James, who will assume his new role on 1 January 2015, is currently the Independent Director Business of the organisation and is elected Chair for 4 years.
Triathlon England, one of three bodies for Triathlon in the UK*, recently appointed the Chairman of Transform, Bill James, as its new Chair. James joined consulting firm in 2005 and has fulfilled the role of Director until he assumed its present role in 2012.
James joined the Board of Triathlon England almost two years ago as Independent Director Business with experience in setting up and running businesses. According to Triathlon England, he has, in this role, brought strategic clarity and focus. “This combined with a passion for triathlon and the mind-set of an officially ‘hooked’ triathlete make him ideally prepared for his new role,” comments the organisation.
As the new Chair, James will take over from Jem Lawson, who has successfully led the creation of Triathlon England and has served the maximum number of terms in post. Commenting on James’ appointment Lawson says: “The appointment of Bill is very exciting for triathlon. Bill exudes competence and brings a wealth of experience to the role. I am sure he will drive Triathlon England forward in the years to come.”
“It has been an exciting couple of years since I joined the Triathlon England Management Board and I think the thing that must drive us as an organisation is that we will always need to perform at our best to support and match the outstanding efforts of triathletes at every level. In my new role as Chair, I look forward to that challenge and to making sure that as the National Governing Body, we help triathletes of all abilities discover, enjoy and achieve in our sport,” comments James.
