Grant Thornton Isle of Man adds four trainees to team
To match the growing demand for its services on the Isle of Man, Grant Thornton has expanded its team on the island with four trainees. Julian Cheetham, Matthew Christian, Chris Kneen and Sarah Leece will work from the Douglas offices and work towards their accountancy qualifications during their traineeship.
Grant Thornton Isle of Man, a member of Grant Thornton International, offers clients accounting services, audit, tax compliance and tax advice. For the past 30 years, the Isle of Man has experienced a continued economic growth, and to match its growing business on the island, Grant Thornton has recently taken on four new trainees. The young professionals will be stationed at the Douglas offices, and work towards professional accountancy qualifications during their traineeship.
“I am delighted we have been able to create opportunities for four ambitious young people who are focused on successful careers in the professional services industry with a world-leading company. These appointments are the result of increased demand for our services,” comments Dennis McGurgan, Managing Director Grant Thornton Isle of Man.

Julian Cheetham
Julian (29) joins Grant Thornton and will be working towards his ACCA qualification. Commenting on his appointment, he says: “I’m looking forward to joining a great team at Grant Thornton, with a lot of friendly faces and high expertise, I’m very happy to have been offered a training position here.”
Matthew Christian
Matthew is 22 years old and holds a Bachelor degree in Politics. Before joining Grant Thornton, Matthew was a Trainee Accountant at Crow Morgan Chartered Accountants. He will be working towards his ACCA qualification together with Julian. “I am looking forward to working with a wide variety of clients in both the public and private sector, whilst developing my skills and learning from the wealth of knowledge and expertise that Grant Thornton has to offer. I am looking forward to developing my professional career and audit expertise with one of the leading international accountancy firms.”
Chris Kneen
Chris is a former Senior Administrator at an investment company and joins Grant Thornton at an age of 26. He holds a Bachelor degree in History and will work towards his ACA qualification. “I am really looking forward to the challenge of becoming a Chartered Accountant, and the invaluable experiences I will learn along the way,” says Chris.
Sarah Leece
Sarah is 24 years old. She holds a Bachelor degree in History and has studied Law with the BBP Law School. Before she joined Grant Thornton she worked in the legal industry as a Paralegal. She will work towards her ACA qualification together with Chris. “I am very much looking forward to learning and progressing in such a supportive and growing workplace.”
