Turner & Townsend enhances major programme delivery capability with director hires
Turner & Townsend is bolstering is UK major programme delivery capability with five director appointments. Craig Taylor, Chris Enoch, Mark England, Ray Riley and Steve Hudson will strengthen the firm’s services across the country.
Andy Scott, Turner & Townsend’s infrastructure and defence managing director for the UK, commented, “We’re strengthening our team to make sure our clients have access to the best people and insight as they make decisions about their major programmes. These experienced and talented hires will help us build our capability across some of the UK’s most strategically significant sectors, enhancing the support we provide on programme set-up, commercial, controls, programme management and long-term asset performance.”
According to Scott, the number of billion-pound infrastructure projects is on the rise as investment is funnelled into the UK’s infrastructure, energy networks and defences to support our economic growth and national security. From the UK’s defence estate to major water, transport, nuclear and energy programmes, clients are under pressure to move faster while managing greater complexity and increased scrutiny on affordability, supply chain capacity, resilience and long-term performance.
Steve Hudson’s appointment as director of infrastructure to lead the business’ ongoing rapid expansion across UK major programmes will help clients to meet these challenges head-on. Hudson was previously executive managing director for infrastructure at Sir Robert McAlpine and has over 30 years of expertise in delivering and helping clients set up complex programmes for success, including across government departments whilst working within HM Treasury and at HS2. He will support clients on intervention, set up and execution across infrastructure, defence, and energy and natural resources.
Chris Enoch takes on the role of national service director for programme management. He joins from Bechtel, where he was recently global rail sector lead, bringing over 35 years of delivery experience in the rail, aviation, aerospace, water, mining and telecoms industries, managing a wide range of complex, multi-billion pound programmes. At Turner & Townsend, Enoch will be leading teams to develop and embed best practice, leveraging leading technology and establishing programmes that will drive better outcomes and a longer-lasting positive legacy for communities and customers.
Ray Riley joins the business with a wealth of experience delivering complex defence, nuclear and multi-national aerospace programmes, having held senior leadership roles within Amentum, Ultra Electronics and Thales. Most recently, he led infrastructure programmes supporting the UK’s submarine enterprise, overseeing multi-billion-pound portfolios and large multidisciplinary teams. In his new post, Riley will be helping clients to deliver complex infrastructure and capital programmes, and expanding the business’ capabilities across the defence sector.
Craig Taylor joins Turner & Townsend as sector director for conventional and low carbon energy. He has over three decades of experience in the industry, both internationally and in the UK, which includes serving as global managing director at project services consultancy, rhi.
Mark England finally brings a track record of more than 35 years in programme, project and commercial management, largely across the civil and defence nuclear sectors. He has held senior roles including site director at Dungeness A, delivery partner positions with Bechtel and most recently as programme director at Mace. In his previous position, he led delivery of a multi-billion-pound defence infrastructure programme involving the design and future construction of a complex production facility. England will continue to play a leading role in upgrading Britain’s defence capability by supporting Turner & Townsend’s growing defence portfolio.
