Julian Osborne and Craig Monks named directors at PwC

PwC has appointed Julian Osborne and Craig Monks as directors to its UK debt and capital advisory team. The move strengthens the firm’s capabilities across asset-based lending, leveraged finance and restructuring services.

Lucy Stapleton, global and UK head of deals at PwC, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Julian and Craig to the team. Their combined experience across asset-based lending, direct lending and debt advisory further enhances our ability to support clients in navigating an increasingly complex financing landscape. Julian’s deep expertise across ABL origination and structuring, alongside Craig’s strong track record in leveraged finance and building lending platforms, will be invaluable as we continue to grow our offering and support clients across the capital structure.”

PwC is an international professional services network with more than 364,000 people in 136 countries and 137 territories. The firm help clients across audit and assurance, tax and legal, deals and consulting.

Julian Osborne brings over 15 years of experience in the asset-based lending (ABL) market across both advisory and lending roles. A qualified Chartered Accountant, he previously spent four years in PwC’s deals team, focusing on mid-market restructuring and ABL-related work. He returns to the firm following a decade at ABL provider, Wells Fargo, where he held senior roles across portfolio management and, more recently, originations.

Osborne said in a LinkedIn post, “I previously spent time at PwC earlier in my career, so it’s great to be returning in a new capacity. Over the past 10 years I’ve been focused on originating and structuring ABL transactions across a wide range of sectors and geographies, and I’m looking forward to building on that experience to support clients in what continues to be a complex and evolving financing environment. Looking forward to working with the team and reconnecting with familiar faces, as well as meeting new colleagues and clients.”

Craig Monks will be based in PwC’s Manchester office. He joins from Fellwood Advisory, where he advised clients on a range of debt transactions. Prior to this, Monks spent nine years in direct lending at TDC, where he played a key role in growing the business to approximately £1 billion of assets under management, including supporting a strategic partnership with KKR in 2023. He began his career at EY, where he trained and gained experience across restructuring and debt advisory. He brings significant experience in the leveraged finance market, with a strong track record of raising cashflow facilities typically ranging from £10 million to £100 million for privately owned and sponsor-backed businesses.

Monks added via LinkedIn, “I’m delighted to be joining PwC as a Director in the Debt & Capital Advisory team, based in Manchester. I’m joining at a time of significant growth within the business, alongside Julian Osborne and following other experienced hires into the team in recent months. I’m looking forward to bringing my leveraged finance experience from direct lending and advisory settings into this role. PwC has a strong platform in the market and a great team, and I’m excited to support its continued growth, particularly in the North West and across the wider UK.”
