Accounting and business advisory HURST welcomes three senior hires

Accounting and business advisory firm HURST has welcomed Sam Parry and Harvey Hubbard to its business services team as a senior manager and manager respectively. Meanwhile, Kate Oakes has also joined as a corporation tax compliance manager in the tax team.

Stockport-headquartered HURST provides compliance and business advisory services to companies and organisations throughout the UK, and Europe. Clients include SJM Concerts, Kinaxia Logistics, M&I Materials, Beechfield Brands, Duerr’s, Oliver Valves, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Krones UK, Creamline Dairies, Scapa Industrial and Hyde Group.

Founded in 1982, the firm is currently looking to double in size, and become a £20 million-turnover practice in 2028, fuelled by an expanding national client base, and from investment thanks to its move to become part of the Dains Group earlier in 2026.

A key part of this will be the growth of its business services team. This carries out audit, compliance, strategic advisory, outsourcing and business planning work for a growing national client base. It is the largest team at HURST, with more than 70 staff.

Joining that team is Sam Parry, a former semi-professional rugby union player with Macclesfield and Harrogate, who has relocated to the north west from Mercer & Hole in Milton Keynes. After training at KPMG, he spent two years in Australia at accountancy firm William Buck before returning to the UK. He  will now serve as a senior manager with HURST.

Harvey Hubbard meanwhile also arrives having trained and qualified at BDO, and has also relocated from the south. He was previously an audit client manager at Kirk Rice, based in Fleet, Hampshire. She joins from KPMG, and will work as a manager with HURST.

HURST Head of Practice Development Simon Brownbill said, “We are delighted to welcome Sam, Harvey, and Kate to the firm. They each bring valuable experience, technical expertise and fresh perspectives that will further strengthen our teams and enhance the service we provide to clients. These appointments reflect our continued investment in talented people as we grow our national client base and expand the range of services we offer. Attracting high-calibre professionals from leading firms is testament to the opportunities available at HURST, and supports our ambitious plans for the future as part of the Dains Group.”

A key part of these plans will be the firm’s accounts and business advisory team – which specialises in helping businesses modernise their financial operations by adopting cloud accounting technologies, streamlining data systems, and managing day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll functions.

Elsewhere, the team has been strengthened by the hire of Aamilah Mohammed. Arriving as an associate, Mohammed joins from Pickard & Co, where she was a junior accountant.
