Ibis Styles hotel in Bournemouth sold out of administration

Coast Hotels and Leisure has been rescued, following a period of trading in administration. Joint administrators from RSM have sold the company and assets to Switch Management.

Located in the East Cliff area, Coast Hotels and Leisure Limited operated the 78-bedroom Ibis Styles Hotel Bournemouth. As the UK’s hospitality sector suffers hangovers from the pandemic era, the company faced considerable financial challenges, which led to the appointment of the administrators on 8 January 2025.

The sale to Switch Management, a property management company with expertise in hospitality and housing, will ensure the continuity of operations and preserve the hotel’s position within the local hospitality market. In addition, the deal will safeguard the employment of approximately 30 staff, who have transferred to the new operator as part of the transaction.

The deal marks Switch Management’s second hotel purchase in Bournemouth, following its acquisition of the Queens Hotel & Spa Bournemouth out of administration, which reopened in April 2026 following a £2 million investment programme.

The process was overseen by Glen Carter and Damian Webb, who served as joint administrators of Coast Hotels and Leisure.
