Grant Thornton appoints Frederik Vinten as chief commercial officer
Grant Thornton has installed a new chief commercial officer to spearhead growth. Frederik Vinten joins the firm’s UK strategic leadership team, as it looks to make the most of its recent private equity investment.
Malcolm Gomersall, the UK chief executive officer of Grant Thornton, commented, “Frederik’s commercial acumen and global experience will be instrumental in our next phase of growth. His ability to transform strategy at pace will be a major catalyst as we accelerate our momentum and strengthen the impact we deliver for clients across the firm.”
At a time of consolidation for the consulting industry, many firms are looking to ride out lean times in the sector with deals that bring their member firms closer together. But, notably, Grant Thornton’s UK arm did not join the global platform named Grant Thornton Advisors – instead going for its own private equity backing from Cinven, in similar fashion to its German business.
At the end of 2025, Grant Thornton announced it was hoping to set “a new benchmark for ambition in the professional services market”, with its plans to put that funding to good use. As the firm’s new chief commercial officer (CCO), Vinten will help to drive those commercial growth plans and strengthen client engagement across its service lines.
Vinten brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning global consulting, financial services, strategy and business transformation. He offers a rare combination of commercial acumen, operational expertise and senior advisory experience that will play a pivotal role in strengthening Grant Thornton’s market position and accelerating its growth ambitions. Most recently, he served as EMEA COO at FTI Consulting, where he oversaw the firm’s corporate operating model. Prior to this, he held senior commercial and strategic roles across leading global organisations, having begun his career at McKinsey & Company and Boston Consulting Group.
He added, “Grant Thornton truly stands out as the most dynamic and forward-thinking firm in professional services. The exceptional quality of its work, distinctive culture and ambitious plans to redefine the modern profession make this an incredibly exciting journey to be part of.”
