Sharing in Growth picks up MCA prize for private sector transformation
Sharing in Growth has been lauded at the annual Management Consultancies Association Awards. Picking up the prize for Change and Transformation in the Private Sector, the firm helped a Sheffield-based manufacturing firm to enjoy a 7,700% increase in profit, according to the consultancy’s CEO, Malcolm James.
Representatives of 22 professional services firms have won or been commended for prizes at the Management Consultancies Association’s annual awards ceremony. Once again, the ceremony demonstrated the strength and depth of the UK consulting sector, as while large firms performed best, a healthy cohort of boutiques also picked up key prizes.
Across the 23 award categories in this year’s awards, including 11 project awards, nine individual awards and three overall awards, a quarter were won by SME consulting firms. Among those firms, Sharing in Growth (SiG) triumphed in the Change and Transformation in the Private Sector category, for supporting cultural and operational transformation in aerospace manufacturing.
Founded in 2013, originally supported by the Regional Growth Fund, SiG partners with organisations across manufacturing and engineering sectors to accelerate performance through leadership and strategic development, and cultural transformation. To date, SiG has supported more than 100 manufacturers, helping strengthen competitiveness, increase exports, and secure thousands of high-value jobs.
SiG’s MCA accolade was presented to it for its partnership with a UK manufacturing company based in Sheffield, which achieved extraordinary cultural and operational transformation through SiG’s expert coaching and hands-on support. Working together, the client and SiG unlocked new capability, built high-performing teams, and transformed the business into a trusted, strategic supplier within the aerospace sector.
The transformation journey began in 2021, when the company sought to strengthen its position in aerospace manufacturing but faced operational inefficiencies, unclear direction, and a workforce eager for new skills. SiG worked to develop leadership capability, and embed a high-performance culture, to enable the company to overcome these challenges and achieve record results.
A central part of the programme was the introduction of operational “lighthouses”; focused areas of improvement that showcased best practice and drove employee engagement to 84% in key production cells. SiG also helped implement a structured Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) framework, bringing sales, production, and finance into alignment to enable proactive, data-driven decision-making.
Among the results, a release from SiG states the client enjoyed a 7,700% increase in profit, along with turnover growth from £15.6 million to £27.4 million. And looking ahead, its forward order book expanded from £5.4 million to £19.1 million.
Looking back on the project, after SiG’s MCA triumph, Malcolm James, CEO of Sharing in Growth, commented, “Winning this award is a testament to the positive impact that Sharing in Growth is having on so many people… The transformation with this client wasn’t just about numbers – it was about creating a lasting legacy and delivering a dynamic transformational project. Thank you to everyone that is associated with Sharing in Growth, this is a very proud moment for our organisation. We look forward to supporting many more manufacturing and engineering businesses to achieve their growth ambitions.”
