PwC names Rob Banham and Warren Tucker as leads for TMT and technology
PwC has named new heads for its TMT industry and technology sector practices in the UK. Rob Banham and Warren Tucker take on the respective positions, in promotions which the firm says reinforces its commitment to “supporting clients across the rapidly evolving technology, media, and telecommunications landscape.”
Even in the muted M&A market of 2025 alone, the UK TMT sector is changing constantly. The first half of the year saw 307 deals. This made it the second most active segment, behind only industrials, in a year in which deal volumes have still remained low. This makes it an extremely important front for dealmakers, as they look to revive their fortunes moving forward.
Rob Banham and Warren Tucker join an experienced TMT leadership team that includes Ben Bird, media and entertainment leader and Russell Taylor, telecommunications leader. Looking ahead, they will work to boost PwC’s expertise in the sector at a crucial time.
Banham is a consulting partner with over 25 years of experience, who began his career at PwC as a graduate trainee and re-joined the firm in 2006. He has led major transformation programmes across the TMT sector, helping organisations redesign business models and implement innovative technologies. In his new role, he will lead PwC’s efforts to help TMT clients drive sustainable growth and achieve their full potential.
He commented, “I’m thrilled to take on this role at such an exciting time for the TMT industry. Wherever I look I see opportunities for valuation creation – from the rapid evolution of AI, the vibrant UK software market, the ever-changing landscape of media and the opportunities that exist for reinvention in Telco. Emerging technologies are unlocking extraordinary opportunities for innovation, transformation and growth. I’m eager to work with our clients and teams to help shape the future, driving impact, resilience and value across our industry.”
Tucker has meanwhile taken on the role of technology sector and markets leader. Also a partner, he previously led PwC’s UK cloud, digital and engineering businesses. Since joining PwC in 2014, he has helped organisations modernise operations and accelerate growth through digital and cloud technologies. Earlier, he also spent 16 years with a global TMT business.
In his new role, he will lead PwC’s firmwide business across the UK technology sector, working closely with Rob and with our broader Alliances team. His appointment comes amid a surge in UK tech investment, driven by initiatives such as the UK-US Tech Prosperity Deal, and the UK Government’s AI Action Plan.
Tucker added, “With unprecedented investment flowing into the UK technology sector, I’m excited to lead PwC’s drive to help technology organisations grow faster, capture the value of AI and build competitive advantage. The software market is a huge opportunity; not only as a standalone industry, but as a critical enabler across sectors, helping businesses drive efficiency and deliver effective client service.”
