Barry Melancon appointed chair of Baker Tilly International

Baker Tilly International has appointed Barry Melancon as its new chair. The appointment takes immediate effect, with Melancon having already served as chair elect since his arrival at Baker Tilly International, earlier in 2025.

Baker Tilly International is a consulting and public accounting firm, headquartered in London. With member firms spread across 700 offices, and 145 territories, it commands a headcount of more than 41,000 people, and an global revenues of close to $5 billion. This makes its combined network the ninth largest professional services network in the world.

As Baker Tilly International looks to build on that worldwide profile, it has announced the addition of a new chair. Taking over from Brian Kreischer who has completed his three-year term, Barry Melancon has been appointed, having arrived as a non-executive director earlier in the year.

Melancon said of the news, “This is a critical moment for the global accounting profession with Baker Tilly at the forefront of that evolution. Over the past few months as chair-elect I have seen first-hand the commitment to progress, talent development and global collaboration, which aligns perfectly with my passion for innovation and the advancement of our profession. I look forward to continuing to work with my fellow board members and our network firms to help lead and effect that change.”

Bringing an extensive background in leadership roles, Melancon was most recently CEO of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), leading the organisation for three decades. During his tenure, the American Institute of CPAs and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants merged to become the largest membership body of qualified accountants in the world.

Kreischer will continue to serve as a member of the Baker Tilly International Board until he retires from his position as chair of member firm Frank, Rimerman + Co LLP next year.
