Nolte Möbel picks Bailey Ahmad for UK administration

The UK wing of Nolte Möbel has appointed administrators, after its German parent company collapsed. Insolvency experts from Bailey Ahmad have been selected to oversee the sale of its remaining assets.
Founded in 1955, bedroom furniture manufacturer Nolte Möbel was once among the leading bedroom furniture manufacturers in Europe. With a workforce that previously exceeded 1,000, it was also noted for its sustainability practices, earning certification as a climate-neutral manufacturer in 2021.
Recent changes seem to have impacted the European company, though. In 2020, Nolte Möbel split from kitchen supplier Nolte Group, and since then, the company has struggled, reportedly writing off millions of pounds of debt during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In accounts for the year to December 31 2023, Nolte Mobel Limited’s fixed assets were valued at around £81,000 and current assets at £531,000. However, significant debts meant that its net liabilities at the time totalled nearly £45,000. At the end of April 2025, this saw the Germersheim-based firm inform its remaining 230 German employees of the closure at the end of April, with official layoff notices issued in the following days. Unless a buyer can be found, the German parent company will cease operations entirely in July once the final orders have been completed over the coming weeks.
In the UK, meanwhile, Nick Cusack and Paul Bailey of Bailey Ahmad have been appointed as joint administrators at the beginning of May. They are now working with relevant parties to ensure the fulfilment of all current orders, where possible. They add that customers with outstanding orders will be contacted regarding delivery within the next two weeks.
Bailey Ahmad was founded by Paul Bailey and Tom Ahmad in 2007. As a licensed and regulated firm by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, the firm specialises in insolvency procedures.
