Northern Irish tax advisory firm Inspired joins global player Ryan

Inspired Corporate Advisory, which has offices in Northern Ireland and England, has been acquired by US-based global tax giant Ryan.
Founded in 2020 by Eugene O’Neill along with brothers Sean and Colm Cavanagh, Inspired Corporate Advisory is a tax advisory and compliance services firm specialising in research and development (R&D), capital allowances, and patent box incentives.
As part of the deal with Ryan, Inspired Corporate Advisory’s 16-strong team across offices in Holywood, Dungiven and London will now join Ryan, a tax advisory powerhouse with over 5,900 professionals across 80 countries.
For Ryan, the bolt-on marks its entry into the Northern Ireland market and expands its capabilities and tax offerings to clients across multiple industries in the UK & Ireland region.
“As one of Northern Ireland’s only dedicated tax firms, Inspired is well aligned to Ryan’s commitment to providing bespoke client services focused on business taxes,” said Tom Shave, President for European and Asia-Pacific Operations at Ryan. “This acquisition strengthens our growth strategy as, together, we look to expand our presence in Northern Ireland and Ireland.”
The move will see Inspired partners Eugene O’Neill and Michael Heinicke (who became a partner in 2022) appointed as Principals at Ryan. Five-time All-Star Sean Cavanagh departed the venture in 2022.
“As a global firm, Ryan’s focused commitment to providing tax solutions with local expertise backed by extensive technology is tremendously beneficial for our clients,” said O’Neill. “Ryan’s results-based approach to client service, wherever they operate in the world, offers the best platform to grow Inspired and maximize tax savings for our clients.”
The deal is the third for Ryan in 2025, after closing two acquisitions in the US – The Albano Group’s Real and Personal Property Tax arms, and the purchase of Brayn Consulting. Ryan also this year completed the integration of Altus Group into its business, which added around 1,000 staff in several countries to its ranks, mainly in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
