Christine Armistead joins BIP as partner

BIP has appointed Christine Armistead as partner within its public sector practice. She brings over two decades of consulting experience to the firm.
Welcoming Armistead to the firm, Paul Fenton, head of public sector at BIP, said, “Christine is an exceptional leader whose experience, vision and passion for better public services perfectly align with our values. Her ability to lead teams, navigate complex systems, and work in true partnership with clients makes her a powerful addition to our leadership team. We are thrilled to welcome her on board as we continue to grow our impact within the public sector.”
BIP is a multinational consultancy firm with a global team of over 5,500 professionals, which specialises in management consulting and digital transformation. The consultancy’s clients include organisations in the UK health sector – which is currently facing mounting pressure to do more with less.
According to Armistead, working to “modernise services, reduce costs, and deliver better outcomes” are issues which health organisations must tackle in tandem, and with a sense of urgency. As an “economist and pragmatist”, she also suggests that “the importance of being transparent with the public about the funding available” is key to ensure the efficient allocation of resources and lasting impact.
Speaking on the challenges – or opportunities as she sees them – Armistead explained, “We’re at a pivotal moment. There’s a huge opportunity to rethink how we reform and transform health service delivery. That means engaging widely, being honest about resource constraints, and focusing relentlessly on value.”
Armistead began her career as an economist in the UK Civil Service, working on resource allocation and public finance at the Department of Health. Her move into consulting marked the start of a 20-year journey leading major transformation initiatives across the NHS and wider public sector. Most recently, she was head of health consulting at Grant Thornton, following 18 years in senior roles at Big Four firms where she led flagship programmes focused on strategy, digital innovation, and large-scale transformation.
Speaking about her new role, Armistead added, “BIP represents a unique blend of traditional consulting rigour and cutting-edge digital innovation. It’s a firm that understands both the complexity of public service delivery and the power of digital to transform it. I’m excited to join a team that’s focused on real impact, outcomes over outputs, and to work with clients to build services that truly make a difference to citizens’ lives.”
