Arch Henderson has joined international consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV. The Scottish maritime engineering firm brings around 70 employees to Royal HaskoningDHV’s headcount.

Alan Kilbride, principal partner at Arch Henderson, commented, “We too are all very excited to be joining Royal HaskoningDHV. We will be able to offer a wider range of services to our existing clients, grow faster, and for our colleagues this is a great opportunity to join in the delivery of prestigious projects and work internationally.”

Founded in 1919, Arch Henderson offers specialist services in the design of harbour works, coastal protection schemes and ship repair facilities. Its multi-disciplinary company operates throughout the UK and abroad, with offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, Lerwick, Southampton and Thurso, serving clients including ports and harbour authorities, ship builders, major oil companies, offshore service companies, local authorities and NHS Trusts. This has seen the firm deliver projects throughout the UK, but also in Algeria, Qatar, Egypt, Ireland, Finland, the Falkland Islands and the Antarctic.

With more than a century of history behind it, Arch Henderson will retain its brand name in the short-term, according to a release from Royal HaskoningDHV. It will also continue as a significant player in the Scottish market serving the ports and harbours sector. But the deal, which will conclude for undisclosed terms, does see Arch Henderson’s roughly 70-strong team join Royal HaskoningDHV – taking its UK headcount to more than 800.

Royal HaskoningDHV CEO Marije Hulshof added, “We are very excited to welcome our new colleagues from Arch Henderson who are so complimentary to our team. Like us, they have over 100 years of maritime expertise, along with established and long-lasting client relationships with port and government clients. Together, with our maritime and renewable energy capabilities, we are now excellently positioned to capture the growing offshore wind port market around the North Sea and internationally.”

Looking ahead, the companies hope to build on Arch Henderson’s track record on maritime defence infrastructure across the Clyde estate in the Glasgow area. At the same time, Royal HaskoningDHV’s experience at Portsmouth and Devonport naval bases will enable the combined team to jointly expand its specialist civil, structural and architectural services to naval bases in the UK and allied nations.

Royal HaskoningDHV is an international, non-listed engineering consultancy firm with headquarters in Amersfoort, Netherlands. It has offices in 30 countries, employing 5,800 professionals worldwide. As the firm looks to support businesses with software solutions relating to operational and engineering matters, it has launched a new service.
