National professional services firm MHA has strengthened its audit team in the East Midlands. Sally Burford and Sam Hyman-Charlesworth have been promoted to director roles in its Leicester office.

Shelley Harvey, audit partner in MHA’s Leicester office, commented, “Sally and Sam’s promotions are fantastic news for the firm and for the clients they service. Their progression within the firm is evidence of our people-first ethos in action, where we not only attract the strongest and best people but also develop and support our own people to elevate to the most senior positions within the firm.”

Sally Burford joined MHA almost 20 years ago, and works with clients such as academies, multi-academy trusts, charities and owner-managed businesses. She also provides audit services across various sectors, including automotive, transport, logistics, manufacturing, education, and not-for-profit.

Sam Hyman-Charlesworth meanwhile joined MHA as a graduate in 2012. He has since built strong relationships with clients to deliver high-quality professional services, and manages a portfolio of corporate clients, from small owner-managed businesses to large multinational companies with complex reporting requirements.

The promotions see Burford and Hyman-Charlesworth join audit partner Harvey and audit director Liam Hammond in the senior audit management team at MHA’s Leicester office.

Harvey added, “Nationally MHA has ambitious plans for growth and as part of this plan the progression of our people will be tantamount to achieving this. I wish them both the very best of luck in their new roles and look forward to seeing what they will bring for our clients.”

MHA is a UK-wide network of independent accountants and business advisers – itself part of Baker Tilly International. In the last 12 months, MHA has undergone a period of major growth – launching offices in Scotland and Wales for the first time.
