James Smith appointed head of global mobility for MHA

James Smith has been named the new head of global mobility for MHA. Arriving as a partner, he brings two decades of experience to the role.

Rakesh Shaunak, managing partner and group chairman at MHA, commented, “James joins the firm with a fantastic pedigree in global mobility and his knowledge and expertise will be a huge asset to the firm and to the businesses which we serve.”

MHA is a UK-wide network of independent accountants and business advisers – itself part of Baker Tilly International. In the last 12 months, MHA has undergone a period of major growth – launching offices in Scotland and Wales for the first time.

As MHA looks to build on this momentum, Smith joins to lead the firm’s teams in delivering multidisciplinary projects on the wider aspects of having an international workforce including social security, immigration, employment law, reward and benefits. He takes on the role in MHA’s London office.

He arrives having spent almost 20 years in the professional services sector. That includes two years with RSM, where he was a director, seven years at Deloitte as an associate director, and the same amount of time with fellow Big Four firm KPMG, where he was latterly an assistant manager.

Looking ahead, Smith commented, “I’m incredibly excited to join MHA to take up this new role joining a dynamic and collaborative team. I'm passionate about global mobility and providing global solutions in an increasingly complex world for my clients.”
