BDO announces new UK leadership team
BDO Managing Partner Elect Mark Shaw has announced his new leadership team. They will take office when he ascends to the firm’s top job in October.
Earlier in 2024, professional services firm BDO announced the election of its new managing partner, following a vote by the firm’s equity partners. Mark Shaw will take on the role when Paul Eagland concludes his maximum second term in October.
Ahead of that, Shaw has set out his stall for how the firm will function under his leadership. He has announced a new senior team for BDO UK, which he says will build on the firm’s heritage, while also “looking to its future.”
Shaw added, “Today’s world is uncertain and changeable with UK businesses facing challenges and opportunities like never before. BDO has a history of thriving during uncertain times, stretching back over 100 years to its formation. At the same time, BDO has been a firm that has looked ahead to opportunities on the horizon. BDO’s new Leadership Team – a mix of continuity and new faces – will continue to do this.”
Upon his assuming the top job, Shaw will be joined by a number of key appointments. Heading up the firm’s core proficiencies will be Head of Audit Dominic Stammers; Head of Tax Adam Frais; Head of Deals Gurpal Ahluwalia; Head of Consulting, Risk and Outsourcing Leigh Treacy.
Meanwhile he will be supported in the daily running of the firm by a series of senior appointments in its c-suite. This includes Head of Regions, Markets and Sectors Kyla Bellingall; Growth, Strategy and International Scott Knight; People, Culture and Purpose Anna Draper; Quality and Risk Kaley Crossthwaite; Chief Operating Officer Andy Butterworth; and Governance, Reputation and Legal Gervase MacGregor.
Looking ahead, Shaw also restated the firm’s commitment to the UK mid-market calling it the backbone of Britain’s economy. As the firm opens “a new chapter of the BDO story”, he noted the team would be “resolutely focused on the needs of our people and the requirements of mid-sized businesses.”
Shaw concluded, “Mid-sized businesses continue to be BDO’s market heartland. By creating one in four jobs and being responsible for a third of UK turnover, these businesses are the backbone of the British economy.”
