S-RM installs Tom Yoxall as head of restoration and recovery
Global intelligence and cyber security consultancy S-RM has announced the appointment of Tom Yoxall to lead its recovery services practice. According to the London-based professional, the team is “better equipped than ever” to assist clients during and after cyber-incidents, as they try to recover control of their data.
The new head of restoration and recovery services continued, “I'm delighted to have the opportunity to build upon S-RM's industry leading and award-winning incident response practice with the further development of its dedicated restoration and recovery services.”
The rise of generative AI-powered attacks and prevalent ransomware incidents in the last year have helped emphasise the complexity and urgency of this threat. According to recent research from Barracuda Networks, the estimated cost of cybercrime for businesses now averages $5.34 million annually in recovery expenses, while less than half of IT security professionals feel effective in risk mitigation.
Founded in 2005, S-RM is an international consultancy with 400 practitioners spanning nine international offices, serving clients across all regions and major sectors. As well as its London headquarters, and a Manchester locale launched earlier in 2023, S-RM also has hubs in New York, Washington DC, Rio De Janeiro, Cape Town, Singapore, Hong Kong and Utrecht.
With Yoxall at the helm, it now boasts a team of over 20 restoration experts. The experts provide the technical guidance and implementation support necessary to aid clients in the wake of a cyber-breach, and S-RM is continuing to invest in this service as the number of incidents continues to climb.
Yoxall brings a wealth of experience to S-RM, having spent nearly ten years in a variety of cyber and IT roles, in both operational and director-level positions – most recently at Commercial, where he focussed on building and developing the cyber security portfolio. Looking ahead, he will lead the continued development of S-RM’s restoration service line across S-RM’s global footprint, in the UK, US, Europe and Asia.
He takes on his role alongside Mark Long, who joins S-RM as a new associate on the restoration and recovery team. Also joining from UK-based IT managed service provider, Commercial, Long will similarly be based in London.
Jamie Smith, global head of cyber security services added, “I am delighted to welcome Tom and Mark to our growing cyber practice. We have had an outstanding year as a division, delivering world-class incident response, offensive security and advisory services to our clients, and expanding our offering into the APAC region. Following a cyber incident, a critical part of our mission is to ensure that companies get back operating as quickly and securely as possible. The addition of Tom and Mark to our existing restoration team will further enable us in this mission and I’m excited to see the continued growth and development of our recovery capabilities.”
