PwC welcomes Charles Chang as partner
Charles Chang has joined PwC’s corporate finance team as a partner. Working from the firm’s London office, he will help to grow PwC’s deals practice, as the UK M&A market continues to show signs of slow recovery.
Lucy Stapleton, UK head of deals at PwC, commented, “We are delighted that Charles is joining our team. His experience working on large software and tech deals will strengthen our growing offering in supporting our clients with their M&A and value creation objectives. Charles is joining a thriving team in which we continue to invest, to bring deep sector expertise and innovative solutions to our clients.”
Stapleton added that PwC is “the number one global M&A firm by deals volume”, making the appointment important as the country’s deals market turns a corner in 2024. After a sustained slump through 2023, interest in AI and several other key trends is seeing the pace pick up once again.
As a partner in PwC’s corporate finance team, Chang will continue to focus on software M&A in the mid-market, increasing PwC’s coverage in this key sector which has seen significant growth over recent years. He brings over 20 years of experience to the Big Four firm, and has advised on software M&A transactions in Europe worth a combined £20 billion.
He arrives at PwC from advisers Arma Partners, where as managing director he played a key role in the sale of large software companies to private equity firms, international strategic acquirers, and in portfolio acquisitions for his clients. Before Arma, Charles worked at the Canadian Bankers Association in Toronto and the Valence Group in London.
Chang added, “It’s great to be joining PwC at a time in the market when our clients will be looking to us to solve their business challenges in the current deals market.”
