Jaywing has appointed a new retail fraud specialist to its risk and data science consultancy. Ben Archer will serve as a lead consultant in the team, bringing more than two decades of consulting and finance experience to the role.

Commenting on his move to Jaywing, Ben Archer said, "I’ve always enjoyed creating products, but missed the challenge of working with clients to solve problems. I was drawn to Jaywing because it employs technology as a tool, where consultants seamlessly integrate with client teams to utilise both people and cutting-edge tech to tackle challenges."

Founded in 1999, Jaywing’s team of risk and data science specialists now includes 50 professionals. A technology consultancy specialised in data science and intelligence, the firm has a strong focus on the financial services sector. The Sheffield-based company previously worked with some of the UK’s leading lenders, such as Starling Bank, Nationwide, and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Archer’s background makes him an ideal fit for Jaywing in this regard. After beginning his career as an analyst with Experian, he spent four years as an assistant manager in decision science with Lloyds Banking Group. Later he also spent over a decade with FICO – where he was a lead consultant – and most recently was a senior data scientist at Provenir.

Looking ahead, these 22 years of data science and fraud prevention experience within the financial services and retail sectors will be instrumental in enhancing Jaywing's fraud prevention offering to meet the growing demands of its clients. In particular, his addition will help Jaywing as it looks to meet the needs of its partners amid a surge in demand for risk and anti-fraud services in the retail banking sector.

Ben O'Brien, Managing Director at Jaywing, added, "We’ve been pursuing Ben Archer for years because of his extensive knowledge across all aspects of fraud. With experience covering the UK and international markets, his specialised knowledge in retail fraud, demonstrated through collaborations with the likes of The Very Group, The Hut Group, and EE, positions him as an ideal fit for Jaywing.”
