J-P Martins joins AFRY Management Consulting in London
AFRY Management Consulting has announced the appointment of J-P Martins as a senior principal in its London office. He joins the mining, minerals and metals team.
Headquartered in Sweden, AFRY Management Consulting is the consulting wing of AFRY, a global engineering company with more than 19,000 experts in 50+ offices around the world.
J-P Martins joins AFRY Management Consulting as it encounters growing demand from clients in supporting the battery value chain. He will advise the firm’s global mining, minerals and metals industry clients, with a focus on the battery value chain.

J-P brings with him extensive experience and will develop our consulting propositions for clients in the mining, critical metals and battery materials value chains from mine to product. For our clients, this means acting more effectively, considering decarbonisation and sustainability aspects, as well as the strategic asset footprint.”
Battery manufacturers will need to secure reliable sources of raw material and equipment while also making bold strides towards sustainability in order to meet global demand. A combination of increased mining and recycling in addition to more new manufacturing plants will be required.
Martins’ work at AFRY Management Consulting will encompass strategy, markets, improvement (profit and sustainability) and major capital projects. Increasingly, his work will focus on recycling and circularity, decarbonisation, and the opportunities and challenges thrown up by energy transition.
To do this, he will draw on more than 30 years in strategy consulting, and in industry. Over that time, he has led capital projects, transformation, decarbonisation, and M&A projects – during spells with Rio Tinto, the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and consulting firms Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, and Partners in Performance.
Martins has also taught strategic problem-solving and consulting skills at London Business School and ESADE – and in early 2021, he was programme lead strategy consultant for the NHS Test and Trace app.
