BDO names Almeri Szulc as finance director
BDO in Jersey has promoted Almeri Szulc to group finance director. A release from the firm suggests the appointment “reflects BDO Group’s continued growth and its commitment to deliver integrated business and professional services to organisations operating within the Island and overseas.”
Clare Treharne, BDO Jersey’s group chief financial officer, commented, “Congratulations to Almeri on her promotion. Almeri brings a detail orientated analytical nature to the role which helps business leadership understand and manage their financial performance to achieve their overall goals.”
With roughly 260 people across its service lines, BDO in Jersey is one of the largest independent firms of chartered accountants in the Channel Islands. The accounting and advisory firm works with a diverse range of clients spanning all industries including government, utilities, education, finance, retail and banking companies.
As the firm looks to enhance the services provided to its financial services clients, BDO has appointed Almeri Szulc as a its group finance director in Jersey. Originally from South Africa, Szulc initially spent four years with BDO in Johannesburg, before relocating to Jersey in 2016.
Over the following seven years, Szulc had risen from assistant audit manager to senior finance manager. Her latest appointment will see her provide financial and strategic insight to client facing practice leads, helping clients to make better informed decisions amid the current uncertainty of the global financial system. Szulc will be supported in that work by BDO’s wider multi-disciplinary group capability, spanning accounting, tax, advisory, technology and training services.
Commenting on the appointment via a LinkedIn post with 100 engagements, Szulc said, “I’m excited to share that I’m starting a new position as group finance director at BDO Jersey!”
