Environmental consultancy APEM Group has acquired NASH Maritime, a Southampton-based specialist shipping, navigation and maritime risk consultancy.

Headquartered in Manchester, APEM Group is an environment consultancy providing expert advice to a wide range of industries including water, renewables, power and utilities, marine and ports, transport, construction and development. The firm provides management consulting, technical services, and scientific expertise.

Commenting on APEM Group’s fifth acquisition in the last two years, APEM Group CEO Leah McGimpsey said: “NASH Maritime is a significant addition to the firm, bringing maritime expertise, cutting-edge technology solutions and a global footprint, while broadening the markets and clients we serve.”

The team of NASH Maritime

With the addition of NASH Maritime’s close to 20 staff, APEM Group now has over 600 employees across the UK, Ireland and beyond.

McGimpsey said that NASH Maritime will deepen the firm’s offerings in the renewables and maritime infrastructure sectors, at a time of growing demand for services in these two segments.

“NASH Maritime’s shipping, navigation and maritime risk services are key to the offshore wind market and will drive synergies with our existing data collection and analysis services to the offshore wind and marine development sector,” said Alistair Davison, managing director of APEM’s Marine and Consents division.

The joining of forces comes on the back of a multi-year collaboration between the two consultancies. “We‘ve known and worked alongside APEM Group on some significant projects over the years in offshore renewables and have always been impressed with their reputation for delivering deep scientific rigour in consultancy and technology solutions.”

“APEM’s backing enables us to take the business to the next level, expand our services globally and further invest in the development of our innovative technology software and product solutions. With shared values and origins as a strategic and specialist technical consultancy, I’m confident our team will thrive within the APEM family.”

Earlier deals closed by APEM Group are: Woodrow (2021), AQUAFACT and GoBE (2022), and Macro Works earlier this year. All five acquisitions were closed under the wings of private equity firm WestBridge, which came on board as an investor in 2019.
