Mahesh Nair leads Utilities practice of consulting firm BIP
BIP has installed a new leader of its Utilities practice in the UK, bringing on board Mahesh Nair from counterpart Sia Partners.
Mahesh Nair brings over 15+ years of working experience to BIP, gained in management consulting, technology, and investment banking.
Building on his track record in business and digital transformation in the energy and utilities sectors, Nair has been tasked with expanding BIP’s footprint in the utilities scene – one of the firm’s earliest sectors of focus during its pre-BIP life as Chaucer (which goes back more than three decades ago).
“I am excited to be joining BIP,” said Nair, “BIP has significant expertise in utilities across operational and digital transformation leveraging analytics, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.”
Prior to BIP, Nair led the Data & Digital Transformation portfolio of Sia Partners (a French-origin consulting firm) across power, gas and water sector clients. Earlier, he was a partner in the Consulting division of Tata Consultancy Services, and worked as a consultant at Enzen Global focused on utility clients.
Nair started his career with commodities trading at Morgan Stanley covering base and precious metals, after completing his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta.
“Mahesh brings with him a strong data and digital transformation background and will play a significant role in supporting us to deliver complex technology consulting projects for our clients in the utilities and energy ecosystem,” said Martin Wassell, Managing Partner at BIP in the United Kingdom.
Earlier this week, BIP was named one of the UK’s leading consulting firms in the utilities sector.
Headquartered in Italy, private equity backed BIP has more than 4,500 people in around 15 countries. The firm’s UK arm was formed in 2020 following the acquisition of Chaucer.
