Trevor Hutchings has joined international consultancy BIP. He arrives as a Partner in the firm’s sustainability team.

Danilo Perrucci, Head of Sustainability Global Department at BIP, commented, “Trevor's entry into our international Sustainability Practice is a source of pride for all of us, and the first of many steps in accelerating our efforts to lead the UK's largest companies towards leadership in a sustainable economy.”

The Big Group is a global consulting brand, with a headcount of 4,500 staff around the world. According to Perrucci, the firm has always made sustainability one of its cornerstones of innovation and transformation for clients. The historical moment in which the firm now operates means that it is ramping up those efforts, to help stimulate more regenerative ways of living and working.

Trevor Hutchings, Partner, BIP

As a Partner for BIP’s sustainability team, Hutchings will help grow the firm’s sustainability consulting services, as well as working to improve the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of clients. To help do that, he brings a wealth of experience to BIP, having led the growth and diversification strategy at professional services firm, Gemserv. Prior to this, Hutchings spent much of his early career in Whitehall departments and with the European Commission in Brussels, working on climate and environment programmes. He also worked at global conservation NGO, WWF, where he was Director of Advocacy.

Hutchings commented, "Businesses must do more than simply create shareholder value - they must discharge a wider responsibility to society and the environment. But this isn't a trade-off: good business is good for business, with those organisations prioritising ESG issues shown to outperform rivals. As the effects of climate change start to impact the way we live our lives, as an expanding regulatory landscape begins to bite, and as staff, clients, suppliers and investors increasingly challenge business norms, it is important that all organisations place ESG at the heart of their strategy, commercial model and operations.”

At the end of 2022, BIP UK and BIP US, subsidiaries of international consulting firm BIP Group, announced their B Corp status. The certification is only handed to businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability making the grade. Passionate about sustainability and improving lives, Hutchings will also be supporting BIP to deliver its continued B Corp commitments, highlighting the firm’s intent to balance people, the planet and profit.

Martin Wassell, Managing Partner at BIP, added,  “It's important to remember that being a B Corp is more than just hitting a target. It adds a new dimension to our culture and a potent ingredient for our future success. Having Trevor onboard will ensure that we can continue to drive meaningful change and make a lasting impact for future generations.”
