Mike Gray joins Biodiverse Consulting as Principal
Newcastle environmental advisory Biodiverse Consulting has added a Principal Ecologist to its team. Mike Gray brings with him over 20 years of technical ecology experience.
Launched in 2019, Biodiverse Consulting was founded by Vicki Mordue – an expert with over 20 years of experience delivering commercial environmental projects. Alongside its skilled core team, the company now boasts a national network of tried, tested and experienced experts and collaborators, helping it meet the needs of clients searching for specialist species surveyors, bespoke ecological product suppliers and many other environmental services.
As the firm looks to build momentum in 2023, Biodiverse Consulting has recruited Mike Gray. Joining as a Principal Ecologist, Gray joins the firm’s senior leadership team, bringing two decades of ecology experience to the role. This includes nine years with Arcus Consultancy Services, also as Principal Ecologist.
Vicki Mordue, now Director of Biodiverse Consulting, commented, “I’m thrilled to welcome Mike to the team. Having worked in large and specialist environmental consultancies in the past. His technical skills really are second to none and the team, including me, are already benefiting from his vast knowledge of the industry.”
In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that securing biodiversity is not just a ‘nice to have’ in terms of battling climate change – leading to a spike in demand for consultants who can help deliver rewilding projects. Gray’s skills will be important for Biodiverse Consulting as it manages new enquiries it is receiving, while also maintaining the standard of its biodiversity net gain and complex habitat and protected species assessments work.
Gray added, “It really was all down to timing. I have known Vicki for years and have always respected her work ethic but due to various other commitments, I haven’t been able to take the plunge until now.”
