Accountancy firm BDO has moved into a new office in Glasgow, as it looks to expand its team. In the coming months, the firm will look to invest in talent and technology across the city.

The membership organisation for Scotland's digital technology industry represents over 1,000 companies through its cluster ecosystem, with more than 300 within its core membership. An estimated 85% of ScotlandIS (a membership organisation for Scotland's digital technology industry) members are SMEs.

This growth means many professional services firms are beefing up their presences in Scotland’s key economic and technological hubs. Glasgow is one of them – and it has drawn multiple consultancies to either establish or grow offices there in recent years.

BDO moves to new Glasgow office

Most recently, BDO has signed a 10-year lease at 2 Atlantic Square, a new office where more than 130 staff will be based. The audit and advisory firm said the move was an important part of plans to invest in the future of its Scottish operations, delivering a base for its growing team which has added more than 20 trainees in recent months.

Martin Gill, Head of BDO, noted, “We’ve achieved significant growth over the past 12 months because of the resilience and ingenuity of the ambitious clients we work with. Despite the current challenges around rising costs and a drop in consumer confidence, there’s still plenty of opportunity for businesses. Our investment in our offices, talent and technology mean we are best placed to help businesses navigate the months ahead.”

As part of the move BDO’s shared service centre has established a presence in Glasgow. This will help build on operations in Liverpool, where another team of BDO specialists supports colleagues throughout the UK. The centre has 500 specialists supporting BDO colleagues throughout the country and providing support for data analytics, tax compliance and processes.
