WeDo Business Services has acquired Lucid Networks for an undisclosed sum. The IT advisory company becomes part of the WeDo Digital brand.

Founded in 2011, Lucid Networks is an IT Consultancy specialising in designing and delivering IT across numerous sectors. The company’s two offices are based in Manchester and Edinburgh, working with clients across the UK to manage and support critical IT systems, in the datacentre, on premise, and in the cloud.

With the management of commercial data becoming increasingly important for businesses amid the digital revolution, the firm has attracted a buyer, in the form of WeDo Business Services. WeDo provides a range of services to small and medium-sized companies, including invoice and trade finance, start-up funding and HR, back office, IT, digital and payroll support, with a focus on the recruitment sector.

Lucid is being integrated into the group's WeDo Digital business, which has a team of more than 50 specialists providing digital innovation, design, development and support services. The acquisition of Lucid brings to the group a range of IT services, from complex infrastructure projects and cyber security through to back-up hosting services and day-to-day IT strategy implementation.

The workforce of Lucid has transferred to WeDo Digital’s offices at MediaCityUK in Salford. WeDo Digital is led by tech entrepreneurs Luke Pilfold-Thomas and Lee Turver, who have more than 25 years' industry experience between them.

Pilfold-Thomas remarked, “Lee and I recently joined the group to spearhead the development of WeDo Digital, and we are thrilled to bring in the team from Lucid Networks and managed IT services expertise as the next stage in our growth."

Founded by Mark Lindsay and Chris Robinson in 2019 as WeDo Finance, WeDo has grown rapidly from its four original staff, through organic expansion and acquisitions, to more than 100 staff. Turnover for the year to July 31 is forecast to be £9.5 million, an increase of nearly 60%, and to accommodate its expanding headcount and client base, the firm shifted to a new headquarters earlier in 2022. The locale in Meadowbank House, on the Meadowbank Business Park in Chadderton, Oldham, is in addition to offices in Colchester, Sheffield, Salford and Chadderton.
