Guy Carpenter establishes an EMEA Advisory Council

Guy Carpenter has established an EMEA Advisory Council to provide advice for its regional leadership’s strategy and its implementation. The council is chaired by Michael Handler, Chairman of Continental Europe at Guy Carpenter, and is made up of in-house as well as independent experts.

Guy Carpenter & Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies*. The subsidiary provides, among others, integrated reinsurance offerings and expertise, it was founded in 1922 and has more than 2,400 employees working from 50 locations across the globe.

In a bid to support its strategic growth plans in the Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, Guy Carpenter is establishing the EMEA Advisory Council. The council is designed to inform the EMEA regional leadership’s strategy and its implementation by providing advice, and engages both internal thought leadership as well as leaders from across the reinsurance industry.

Chairman of Continental Europe at Guy Carpenter Michael Handler will take on the Council’s chair; while Christopher Klein, the firm’s Managing Director and Head of EMEA Strategy Management will take on the role of Vice-Chairman. Further internally derived members of the council include Morley Speed, Managing Director at Guy Carpenter. External contribution to the Council comes from Bruno Meyenhofer, formerly CEO and Chairman of Partner Re Global; Göran  Thorstensson, formerly CEO of Sirius International  Insurance Corporation; and Rolf Tolle, formerly Franchise Performance Director at Lloyd’s.

The Council will report to Nick Frankland, CEO of EMEA Operations at Guy Carpenter, who comments: “We are delighted to have been able to assemble such an impressive group of market professionals, and in particular feel privileged to have attracted such esteemed industry figures as Bruno, Göran and Rolf to our business.
