HKA adds two technical directors to forensic technical services teams
Global professional services firm HKA has made two senior appointments in its UK team. Carl Blewer and John Hodgson arrive as technical directors, to shore up the firm’s forensic technical services team.
Hodgson brings over 35 years of experience in the design and assessment of structures of all types, as well using various codes and standards. A former Mouchel and Jacobs engineer, he joins HKA from Structural Dynamics, where he was a Director. Throughout his career, he has used his skill to provide advice to property owners on how to safeguard their facilities from damage due to natural hazards or accidents, or how to fast-track recovery should such events occur.
He comes to HKA to supplement the firm’s offering in expert structural engineering, but also offers particular skills in structural analysis. These include complex modelling, root cause analysis, and structural dynamics.
Helen Collie, Technical Director at HKA, said, “I am so pleased to grow the building structures expert team with the addition of John. He brings a wealth of structural engineering and analytical expertise across a broad range of sectors and regions, also with a strong forensic background investigating damage, cause and remedial solutions. We have no doubt that John will be a valuable addition to HKA’s Forensic Technical Services group”
Blewer meanwhile arrives as a chartered engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, process, power, and water and wastewater treatment industries. He has an extensive technical background in piping and mechanical engineering, which includes experience in stress analysis and product/package specification and delivery.
Arriving from Birwelco, where he was a General Manager, Blewer has held senior responsibilities in all areas of engineering, proposals, project, and operations management, and has established leadership and problem-solving skills. Looking ahead, he will apply his experience successfully tendering and delivering design, supply, fabrication, and construction projects, with HKA.
Fellow Technical Director Zaffer Khan added, “We are delighted to continue to grow the energy resources and industrial expert team at HKA with the addition of Carl. He brings a wealth of mechanical engineering and project management expertise gathered over 30 years from working on major, complex projects across a broad range of sectors and regions. Carl is a significant addition to forensic technical services, and we are delighted to have him on board.”
