Alpha FMC expands Edinburgh team with Barrie West
As part of its expansion strategy, Alpha FMC has promoted Barrie West to Principle in its Edinburgh team. West, who has been with the firm for eight years, will in his new role seek to extend the firm’s Scottish footprint.
Barrie West worked as a Chartered Accountant Trainee at Campbell & Co Chartered Accountants between 1994 and 1997, after which he joined EY. Over a period of seven years at the Big Four firm, West rose to a Senior Executive position. In 2005, he started at Purple Patch Wireless as a Finance Director, following which he joined Alpha Financial Markets Consulting (Alpha) in 2008 as an Associate.
West holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Studies and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh. He is a Chartered Accountant (ICAS).
In his new role as Principal at Alpha FMC, West will take a senior role in the firm’s Scottish growth strategy. For Alpha, the appointment is seen as a key milestone, and will provide superior support for the firm’s clients in Scotland. “Barrie brings vast experience in large transformational change within the investment management industry, as well as a deep knowledge of the Scottish financial services sector,” comments Alpha FMC Global CEO Euan Fraser. “His particular expertise in operating model design, execution and outsourced service delivery will prove extremely beneficial to our Scottish clients. We welcome Barrie to our leadership team and look forward to working with him to develop our business whilst delivering outstanding services to our clients.”
West notes: “I’m really excited about building a Scottish practice and developing the strong local team to enhance Alpha’s ability to serve its clients in Scotland. It’s great to be joining such a talented group who love what they do and I look forward to playing a significant role in Alpha’s continued success.”
