EY-Parthenon names new partners in retail and energy teams

Strategy firm EY-Parthenon has appointed retail specialist Duncan Brewer as Partner to its consumer products and retail team. The move coincides with the appointment of energy sector Partner, Anu Bhambi.

EY-Parthenon is Big Four firm EY’s global strategy consulting arm. Amid boosts in demand across a number of its service lines, the firm has been ramping up its headcount in recent months. For example, earlier in September, EY-Parthenon announced the arrival of four senior appointments in its UK pensions strategy practice – taking its capacity to more than 100 experts.

Now, the strategy consultancy has followed this up with the hiring of two more specialists in its consumer products and energy wings. Anu Bhambi and Duncan Brewer bring more than three decades of business experience between them.

Brewer has spent 14 years working with the retail industry of the UK and Northern European. Having spent that time with Oliver Wyman, where he headed the UK retail team, Brewer worked with some of the world’s largest and most innovative businesses. He specialises in advising consumer-facing companies how to better understand and meet their customers’ needs through data, analytics and digital tools.

Commenting on his new role, Brewer said, “I’m very excited to be starting the next chapter of my career at EY-Parthenon, helping build a world-leading retail practice that helps our clients answer the toughest questions they face.”

Disruptive technologies, new business models and agile market entrants are revolutionising the way people shop. With the pandemic having accelerated the trend toward ecommerce, consumer products and retail companies must embrace data-led decision making and radical innovation to allow them to thrive over the long-term – something EY-Parthenon will help its clients adapt to.

Mona Bitar, UK&I Managing Partner, Consumer at EY, remarked, “We are thrilled to welcome Duncan to the Consumer Products & Retail team. His innovative approach to helping clients tackle the most interesting and challenging business problems, firmly puts data at the heart of decision-making to ensure businesses have the agility to respond to market changes.”

Energy Partner

Meanwhile, Bhambi brings 19 years of experience in delivering tangible value in the energy sector. He has operational exposure to oil and gas and power & utility markets, through management positions with listed and privately held energy companies. In his new role at EY-Parthenon, Bhambi will continue to support clients on how they can engender purposeful and profitable business models, whilst supporting the transition towards sustainable and green energy.

He stated, “The energy and resources industry is undergoing fundamental change, with decarbonisation, digitisation, cost pressures and geopolitical uncertainty just some of the forces shaping it… I’m looking forward to supporting our clients, with the market leading team at EY-Parthenon, to overcome these challenges and make the most of the opportunities ahead of them.”

Bhambi brings advisory experience including delivering c-level strategy for KPMG’s global consultancy practice, helping senior energy leaderships in London, Dubai and Johannesburg. Prior to that, he was a Partner with Boston Consulting Group, and for the last 10 years his primary focus has been decarbonisation in the overall pursuit of net zero.

Rob Doepel, Markets Leader for EY's UK&I Energy business, added, “With the eyes of the world on COP26, businesses are seeking real solutions to help reshape their businesses for a sustainable future. We are delighted to welcome Anu to the team. His expertise and proven track record in delivering tangible value to clients in the energy sector, combined with operational exposure, means he will be a superb addition to our team of over 90 Partners who focus on the energy sector.”
