Channel 3 Consulting appoints Paul Henderson to board

Former KPMG health expert Paul Henderson has joined Channel 3 Consulting as an Executive Partner. Working exclusively in digital transformation, the company helps healthcare organisations make fundamental improvements to patient care.

As a result of the ongoing pandemic, the National Health Service remains under acute pressure in 2021. As the UK’s public health institution looks to cope with the demands of a health crisis, while the government remains reluctant to increase funding, there is a major need to exploit new cost-saving innovations – whether through existing digital investments or emerging solutions. Consultants who can help the NHS with these issues are subsequently in keen demand across the institution.

Established in 2009, Channel 3 Consulting works with organisations across the NHS and private healthcare on realising better patient outcomes, improving internal operations and delivering change. While healthcare is its main area of focus, the consulting firm also provides advisory and programme delivery services to the public and third sectors.

Paul Henderson, Executive Partner, Channel 3 Consulting

Earlier in the year, Channel 3 embarked on a new growth phase, having completed a management buyout in January. Under the new leadership of new Chief Executive John Howard, Eleanor Rollason and Lucy McLintock, Channel 3 announced plans to double the size of the business' permanent team over the next 12 to 18 months – and secured a landmark investment from private equity groups Kempen and WestBridge Capital to help meet that goal.

With this backing, Channel 3’s latest development has seen the firm name Paul Henderson as an Executive Partner. He has also joins the company’s board.

Commenting on Henderson’s appointment, CEO Howard noted, “Paul’s appointment marks another key milestone in Channel 3’s growth, further strengthening our ability to help clients use technology to transform services for the benefit of their patients, citizens and staff. His network and experience are second to none, and we’re absolutely delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Bringing 33 years of experience to the role, Henderson is an expert in supporting the design and implementation of healthcare technology programmes that enable clients to transform the care and services they deliver for patients. Having held leadership roles in global consultancies, digital start-ups, technology providers, and local and regional NHS organisations, his deep sector experience will enable him to drive the continued development of Channel 3’s service portfolio and expand its market reach.

Henderson arrives with Channel 3 from EMIS, where he led work across the UK and Ireland using technology to help improve health and wellbeing. Before this, he also led KPMG UK’s data analytics business in its infrastructure, government, and health division – leading analytics-enabled transformation programmes in care system redesign, place-based planning, new models of care, financial improvement, regulation and audit. Prior to his Big Four experience, meanwhile, Henderson gained 20 years of experience founding and growing analytics businesses with a strong focus on delivering actionable insight to the health and care sector.

Speaking on his new challenge, Henderson said, “ Channel 3 has made a fantastic contribution to enabling wellness and supporting staff to harness technology. With the NHS continuing to face huge pressures, I am looking forward to working with the brilliant Channel 3 team to support clients to realise the huge benefits that data and digital technologies can make to driving better health outcomes and making working lives better.”
