George Dale joins Opus as Partner
Corporate turnaround expert George Dale has joined Opus Restructuring & Insolvency as a Partner. Dale arrives in Opus’ Scottish wing, which was established earlier in 2021.
Founded in 2013, London headquartered Opus Business Advisory Group offers up restructuring, corporate finance, forensic accounting, turnaround, investment and rescue planning services to clients across the UK. The firm has over 60 staff, including more than 20 partners.
With the number of businesses in financial distress still at a peak level in Scotland, April 2021 saw Opus decide that the time is right to launch its first office in Scotland. The Glasgow office represents Opus’ eleventh in the UK, along with London, Bristol, Maidstone, Croydon, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle. It has been helmed by Mark Harper, who joined Opus to oversee its expansion in Scotland.
Now, as the firm looks to further ramp up its growth north of Hadrian’s Wall, Opus has announced the arrival of George Dale. Joining as a Partner, he will look to open a 12th office for the firm in Edinburgh.
Trevor Binyon, Executive Board Member at Opus Business Advisory Group said, “George’s reputation and experience is well recognised and justified given his knowledge, professional standing and broad network. During this time of uncertainty, we are exceptionally pleased that George has joined and see this as a positive step to supporting Scottish businesses during this challenging time.”
Dale will open up a location on 23 Melville Street in Edinburgh from mid-July, with a view to growing and developing the firm's restructuring and insolvency business in Scotland. His experience will be backed by Opus’ team’s other service lines including business advisory, forensic accounting and corporate finance.
He brings almost two decades of expertise to the role, having worked in restructuring in Scotland consistently throughout his career. Dale spent seven years with Begbies Traynor, eventually becoming a Director of Business Recovery and Insolvency, before working as Partner and Joint Head of Business Recovery & Insolvency at Henderson Loggie, and Director of Business Recovery and Insolvency with Thomson Cooper Accountants.
Reflecting on the latest chapter in his career, Dale added, “Joining Opus is an excellent opportunity and one which will enable me to widely promote our range of bespoke restructuring and insolvency solutions throughout Scotland. While the partner led firm has national reach and significant depth of experience, it compliments well with our knowledge and understanding of the local market.”
