KPMG welcomes Huw Evans as partner in its insurance practice

KPMG has announced the appointment of Huw Evans as a Partner in its insurance wing. Evans is currently head of the Association of British Insurers, but he will exit his current role at the end of 2021 to join the Big Four firm.

Simon Ranger, Partner and Head of Insurance at KPMG in the UK, said, “I’ve known Huw for many years – he’s an incredibly well-respected figure, holds an impressive depth of industry knowledge and has had the formidable task of steering the insurance industry through monumental change over the past decade.  We are thrilled to welcome a professional of such calibre to join our team at KPMG.”

Evans will arrive with KPMG in January 2022, having held the office of Director General at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) for more than six years. He first came onboard the trade body in 2008 as Operations Director, and went on to become Policy Director and Deputy Director General in 2013 before taking on his current post.

During his time with the organisation, Evans has represented the industry through Brexit, Solvency II implementation, pension freedoms and the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to this, Evans served as a special adviser to Prime Minister Tony Blair and Home Secretary David Blunkett between 2001 and 2006, before working as a senior manager in RBS’ Group strategy function until 2008.

In his role as Partner with KPMG, Evans will help clients to navigate the quickly shifting environment.
