The top 60 Employers for school leavers in the UK
RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk has published its ‘Top 60 Employers’, in which it identifies the employers most popular among school leavers in the UK who were part of an apprenticeship. The list – which is led by EY, Unilever and Fidelity Worldwide Investment – contains 14 consulting firms.
Apprenticeship
An apprenticeship is a real job with a mix of on-the-job and off-the-job training during which a specific set of skills and qualifications is taught that will be an attribution in future jobs. An apprenticeship usually takes between one and four years and can be done in a variety of industries, including accountancy, finance advice, engineering, retail, law and social care. In addition to training and education, an apprenticeship provides the apprentice with work experience and an income.
Top 60 Employers
To help school leavers understand which employers offer high-quality apprenticeships, online platform RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk conducted research into the satisfaction of graduates on their apprenticeships. The platform based its ranking on over 2,500 reviews from school leavers who undertook Apprenticeships, School Leaver Programmes, Sponsored Degree Programmes, Gap Year Programmes or Work Experience Schemes. Based on the analysis, RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk compiled a list of the top 60 apprenticeship employers in the UK.
The 2015-2016 list is led by professional services firm EY, followed by Unilever (#2) and Fidelity Worldwide Investment (#3). Other firms listed in the top 10 include J.P. Morgan, Boots, Lloyds Banking Group, M&G Investments, PwC, National Grid and BAE Systems.
Consulting firms
In total, 14 consulting firms made the list. In addition to EY and PwC, large accounting and consulting players include Deloitte (#15), BDO (#18) and Grant Thornton (#21). Other professional services firms listed are Capgemini (#22), Accenture (#26), Aon (#42) and Mazars (#51). Also included are IT firms IBM (#24), CGI (#45) and Atos (#57), and engineering and consulting firms Arup (#16) and Mott MacDonald (#34).
