Plenitude appoints former HSBC’ers Allan Clare and Barbara Patow
Two former seniors of HSBC – Allan Clare and Barbara Patow – have joined Plenitude pool of senior advisors, as the firm gears up for heightened demand amid mounting regulatory pressures and threats.
Plenitude is a consultancy and technology firm specialised in financial crime and risk compliance. The firm work with a range of financial institutions including retail, commercial and investment banks, insurance companies and investment management firms across the UK and Europe.
Both new senior advisors bring an extensive track record in financial crime risk and compliance to the London-based consulting firm.
Allan Clare has decades of financial crime risk and compliance experience, leading and managing financial crime functions and mitigation programmes at large financial institutions.
Prior to joining Plenitude, he held Managing Director roles at HSBC, Barclays and Nationwide Building Society and has extensive expertise of the insurance market as Director of Risk, Financial Crime & Security at RBS Insurance Group with responsibility for all financial crime risks across businesses.

Barbara Patow previously held senior leadership roles at HSBC in its Financial Crime & Compliance divisions, including Global Head of AML and Global Head of FCC for Global Banking and Markets. She was also the Head of Correspondent Banking and Chief Operating Officer for the Global Liquidity and Cash Management business developing and implementing financial crime and compliance control frameworks.
Prior to her decade at HSBC, Patow spent over twenty years at Irish bank AIB. “We are confident that both Plenitude and our clients will benefit from Barbara’s extensive experience and honoured that we have been able to secure Barbara as part of the team during this important growth phase for Plenitude,” said Paterson.
Earlier this year, Plenitude appointed Shahmeem Purdasy as senior executive and general counsel.
