James Isherwood leads insurance actuarial team of Mazars
Mazars has bolstered its insurance actuarial team with James Isherwood, who has been appointed a partner in London.
James Isherwood joins the accounting and consulting firm from Boston Consulting Group, where he was a director in the firm’s insurance practice. Previously, he spent fourteen years at Big Four firm PwC, where he climbed the firm’s ranks up to director level.
Over the course of his career, Isherwood gained nearly two decades of experience in insurance consulting focused on finance, risk, capital and actuarial projects. His track record includes executing strategic change and related operating model upgrades to detailed technical process reviews across capital management, digital strategy, reporting processes, and data architecture.
He also gained experience with IFRS, having spent a number of years leading the implementation of IFRS 17 for global insurers and serving as a workstream lead in major IFRS 4 Phase 2 implementation assessments for two of the world's largest insurance companies.
At Mazars, Isherwood has been tasked with expanding the firm’s presence in the insurance sector. In addition to providing expertise in the life insurance sector, he will provide detailed knowledge and expertise on IFRS 17 implementation, Solvency II, technological change and actuarial finance insights.
In the UK, Mazars employs over 2,300 people working from 16 locations across the country, generating revenues of approximately £200 million.
