Marcus Cave joins asset manager Quilter Investors from PwC
Quilter Investors has hired Marcus Cave as an ESG fund research analyst. The former PwC professional will take responsibility for the analysis of collective investments, with a specific emphasis on the ESG characteristics of funds.
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks have continued to rise to the top of the investment community’s agenda in recent years. A majority of investors now agree that over the long-term, ESG issues such as climate change and executive diversity have quantifiable impacts on businesses. Factoring this into a business plan is proving easier said than done, however.
Quilter Investors is a provider of multi-asset solutions to help investors create prosperity for the future. As the firm looks to adapt to meet the heightened ESG demands of investors, it has added Marcus Cave to its London team. Reporting to Portfolio Manager Stuart Clark, he will be responsible for the analysis of collective investments for inclusion within multi-asset portfolios with a specific emphasis on the ESG characteristics of funds. At the same time, he will also carry out specific ESG research projects and develop investment ideas for implementation within the portfolios.
Clark said of the news, “We are delighted to welcome Marcus to the Quilter Investors team at a time when responsible investment is becoming increasingly vital to the way the industry operates… Responsible investment is no longer a nice to have for asset managers. It must be at the forefront of their investment proposition and we are excited by recent developments within the Quilter Investors team and what the future holds for us in this space.”
Arriving from PwC, Cave spent the last three years working with the Big Four firm’s ESG and investment management consulting team. There, he was latterly a Senior Investment Associate, and provided investors with analysis of fund groups' ESG integration as well as developing an ESG fund benchmarking service aimed at identifying relative risk exposures.
Cave commented, "The environmental crisis and the Covid pandemic have helped thrust responsible investment into the spotlight, so it is great to see asset managers taking things seriously. I have been really impressed by Quilter's commitment and desire to integrate ESG considerations into its investment process and can't wait to work closely with the team to identify where we can do even more to the benefit of clients and the planet."
