Dawn MacDougall joins MHA Henderson Loggie tax team
MHA Henderson Loggie has hired Dawn MacDougall as tax director. MacDougall was most recently the Head of Tax in the Inverness office of EY.
MHA is a national association of accounting, auditing and business advisory firms with a strong reputation for providing leading insight and advice. Based in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, MHA Henderson Loggie has been helping clients with those services for more than 100 years.
With a number of complex regulatory changes on the horizon, it is likely that in the UK there will be a heightened demand among clients for consultants who can help address the shifting environment. As the firm looks to strengthen its tax team ahead of that trend, MHA Henderson Loggie has installed a new Tax Director.
Based in Edinburgh and Inverness, Dawn MacDougall will now work across all of MHA Henderson Loggie’s offices in Scotland. In her new role, she will focus on furthering the tax team’s reputation as a centre of excellence for owner managed business taxation.
Kimberley Thomson, Head of Tax, commented, “The pandemic has created many challenges and opportunities for all types of business and Dawn’s market focus and insight will be invaluable.”
MacDougall arrives with more than 30 years of experience in professional services and tax work, having qualified at EY in 1991, before joining investment house Martin Currie, and then Scottish Water in managerial roles. Re-joining the firm in 2008, she most recently worked for EY, and eight years later she became Head of Tax in the Big Four firm’s Inverness office, focusing on supporting owner managed businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the UK, with complex tax issues.
Speaking on her move, MacDougall said, “I’m pleased to make the move at such an interesting time. As owner managed businesses recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, they are seeking to make changes to their business structure and current working practices.”
A separate LinkedIn post announcing the news has meanwhile been liked and commented on by more than 160 of MacDougall’s friends and colleagues. This included Victoria Bain, an Assistant Tax Advisor at EY, who said she was wishing her exiting colleague “all the best in your new job… missing you!” Meanwhile, Paige Grossi, an Assistant Manager at MHA Henderson Loggie added she was “looking forward to working with” the inbound MacDougall.
