Mazars re-elects Phil Verity for third term in the office
The partner team of Mazars have re-elected Phil Verity for a third term in the office, making him one of the longest-serving managing partners in UK’s professional services industry.
Phil Verity has serving Mazars in the UK for over 25 years, and has been at the helm for nearly a decade. He started his career at Mazars (one of its legal predecessors) as a trainee in the Milton Keynes office, and worked his way up the ranks. Following a five-year spell at PwC in the early ‘90’s, he returned to Mazars in 1995 and has never left since.
In 1999 Verity was admitted into the partnership, and following a period as a board member responsible for Entrepreneurial Business Services, in 2012 he was named the UK Senior Partner (the equivalent of UK managing partner). Under his leadership, the accounting and consulting firm has only looked upwards.
Back in 2012, Mazars employed around 1,100 staff in the UK. A remarkable run of 10 consecutive years of growth has seen the firm double its headcount to over 2,350 staff, of which approximately 130 are partners, making the firm one of UK’s ten largest accountancy-origin professional services networks.
Latest financial figures for the UK firm [FY2019] reported revenues of just under £200 million, while profit before tax rose for the seventh successive year, by 5% to £34.7 million. FY2020 results are yet to be released, although Verity said that during the pandemic Mazars has “demonstrated resilience and flexibility.”
On commencing his next four-year term in February 2021, Verity said: “Leading the firm is a real privilege and hugely rewarding. Mazars is making strong inroads into each of our strategic markets, powered by a talented team of people. Across all levels of the firm, this is the strongest team I have worked with.”
“We look forward to the next four years with excitement and optimism: we have clear strategic ambitions in our markets, a strong and distinctive brand, and a talented team with the vision and expertise to achieve our goal of being the right fit for our people and our clients. We will continue to develop as a modern, progressive firm which values and offers different perspectives to a range of clients.”
Globally, Mazars has over 40,000 professionals operating from 90+ countries in the world.
