Marsh & McLennan Companies has refreshed its Board of Directors with two new Executive appointments. E. Scott Gilbert moves on from his role as Risk and Compliance Officer to the newly created role of Chief Information Officer, while Carey Roberts assumes the position of Chief Compliance Officer.

E. Scott Gilbert has been with Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) since 2005, when he joined the consulting firm as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President. In this capacity, he supervised and implemented MMC’s compliance policies and programmes worldwide, as well as oversaw MMC’s Business Resiliency Management, Global Security and Global Technology Infrastructure groups. Prior to joining MMC, between 1992 and 2005, Gilbert worked for General Electric Company – first as Counsel Litigation and Legal Policy and later as Chief Compliance Officer. Before this, between 1986 and 1992, he worked as an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

In the newly created role of Chief Information Officer, Gilbert will oversee MMC’s firm-wide efforts to develop and implement innovative and cost-effective technologies and lead the Marsh & McLennan's Innovation Centre and Business Resiliency and Security operations. Gilbert will continue to report to Dan Glaser, MMC’s President and CEO. “I am pleased to name Scott as Chief Information Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies. The creativity, imagination and ingenuity Scott has demonstrated during the past decade at MMC ideally qualify him for his new role,” explains Glaser.

Following up the role of Gilbert, MMC appointed Carey Roberts as its new Chief Compliance Officer. Roberts has been with MMC since 2014, when she joined as the firm’s Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary – two roles she will continue to fulfil as well. Roberts will report to Peter Beshar, MMC’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel. “Since joining MMC last year, Carey has provided strong leadership and counsel on strategic issues,” comments Glaser. “She is well-positioned to take on these additional responsibilities.”

Prior to joining MMC, Roberts worked for law firm Covington & Burling for 17 years, working her way up from Associate in 1997 to Partner in 2005.
