Tarnjeet Bhachu becomes Assistant Director with Deloitte
Deloitte has appointed Tarnjeet Bhachu as Assistant Director in its employer covenant team based in the North of England. Bhachu’s responsibilities will focus on helping clients in Yorkshire, the North East, and the North West.
The employer covenant is a measure of the ability of the employer to meet its obligations to a pension scheme. It is important that the employer covenant is assessed in the context of and relative to the scheme's funding needs and investment risk to understand the nature of the employer's obligations. Deloitte’s employer covenant practice helps clients develop a cost efficient approach to employer covenant, affordability, monitoring and corporate activity.
Committed to the growth of the regional economy and local businesses, Deloitte in Yorkshire and the North East offer a range of advisory services – including employer covenant work – from its Leeds and Newcastle offices across a wide range of industries. As the company prepares for a busy 2021, Deloitte has installed Tarnjeet Bhachu as an Assistant Director.
Clare Boardman, Deloitte’s Lead Partner for Restructuring Services in Yorkshire and the North East, stated, “This region has numerous large organisations that require this type of expertise. The team in the north has a rich and diverse level of sector competence, which means we can help our clients using our in-depth knowledge. Tarnjeet’s appointment is a great addition to the team’s credentials.”
He joins from TPT Retirement Solutions, where he had been Senior Covenant Manager since 2014, having previously worked with consultancies Capita and PwC. Based in the consultancy’s Leeds office, Bhachu will now leverage his experience to advise trustees on covenant strength, most notably in multi-employer schemes, and has expertise in social housing, charity, building society, and independent school sectors.
Bhachu noted, “This is a wonderful opportunity and I am looking forward to building upon Deloitte’s existing presence and offering in the North. My experience as an in-house adviser to pension scheme trustees adds a new facet to the employer covenant team’s extensive skillset, giving us a strong differentiator in the market.”
