Murray Graham joins Nexus Planning as Director in Manchester
Planning consultancy Nexus Planning has appointed Murray Graham as a new director to help manage its expanding Manchester office. He arrives in the latest chapter of a career in planning with public and private organisations.
Founded in 2013, Nexus Planning is a team of planning and regeneration consultants which supports clients across the UK. The firm has grown operations by building strong networks across the private and public sectors – especially in the North West, where earlier in 2020, Nexus’ Manchester wing was selected to join the £750 million Innovation Chain North Framework to provide town planning services.
Nexus Manchester has grown over the past two years, with nine staff now based at the Castlefields office. Earlier this month, two of Nexus Manchester’s team – Executive Director Peter Tooher and Director Richard Shepherd – were appointed as experts on the Government’s High Streets Task Force, aimed at helping communities and local authorities to transform their high streets.
Now, as the firm looks to capitalise on its momentum, Nexus has appointed Murray Graham as a Director in its Manchester team. He will work alongside Tooher and the wider team to develop the consultancy’s strengths in the residential and regeneration sectors and using his expertise to support clients.
Graham commented, “Nexus Planning has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, culminating in the recent RTPI Planning Consultancy of the Year 2020 win. The consultancy’s track record of high-quality planning and regeneration work made it an easy choice to join the Manchester team. I’m looking forward to helping maintain the high standard and help grow the team further.”
Most recently, Graham was a Planning Director of consultancy Iceni Projects, a Manchester based firm he joined in 2017. Beyond that, he has 30 years of experience in the planning and development industry – both in the public and private sectors.
Having been a planning and regeneration manager at the now defunct Cheshire County Council, he then became Principal of his own planning consultancy in 2009 and, as part of that role, was appointed for six months as Warrington Council’s interim manager of the planning team.
Nexus Planning also has offices in Reading and London and is led by Managing Director Roger Tustain.
