Chris Weiss joins partner team of Elixirr in South Africa
Global challenger consultancy Elixirr has announced Chris Weiss will join the firm’s partner team from the start of 2021. Weiss has been a central contributor to the firm’s growth in the South African financial sector since his arrival in 2017.
Elixirr work globally across financial services, retail and telecommunications and have bases in Europe, the US and Africa. Elixirr’s South African wing initially grew out of sustained work with the country’s largest bank, Standard Bank, which is one of Elixirr’s longest-standing clients, having worked together since 2011. Following the assortment of international projects ranging from digital strategies, to product and customer strategies, to operating models and sourcing approaches, Elixirr was soon tapped by the country’s other major banks too – and today has a thriving wing in South Africa.
Having joined Elixirr as a Manager in 2017, Chris Weiss has been central to the firm’s growth in its financial services capabilities, and the developing of its South African ecosystem. As a result of his hard work, Elixirr has announced that Weiss will be joining its partner team as of January 2021 – a swift ascension which the firm asserts “reinforces our commitment to rewarding talent and supporting our people as they progress through the firm.
Weiss joined the firm with 10 years of previous consulting and industry experience, including roles as a Management Consultant at Deloitte, and Head of Bancassurance Propositions with Standard Bank, meaning he was able to bring a broad range of expertise to the team. This ranged from strategy and organisation design, to the delivery of innovative customer-centric value propositions.
On his appointment, Weiss stated, “I am extremely excited to continue working with our fantastic clients both in South Africa and across the world. Over the last three years I have had the honour of working with some of the smartest and most dedicated people to help our clients address some of their most difficult and pressing challenges. I’m thrilled to be taking up my new role during a particularly exciting chapter in Elixirr’s history. And I can’t wait to work closely with our entire team to ensure that we continue delivering the very best results for our clients and building a world-leading consulting firm.”
As Partner, Weiss will work to strengthen Elixirr’s start-up ecosystem and expand its global financial services practice within South Africa. His promotion comes at an exciting time for Elixirr, following the release of the firm’s first set of interim results, which saw it continue to grow in spite of current market conditions.
Stephen Newton, Elixirr’s Founder & CEO, who originates from Cape Town, commented, “I am thrilled to Welcome Chris to our Partner team. Having joined us only three years ago as Manager, his growth story exemplifies how we develop our people and seek to promote from within. Chris has accelerated the expansion of Elixirr in South Africa, and I am incredibly excited to see how he continues to drive growth for our firm.”
