London based IT advisory firm SystemsUp has announced the launch of a new security practice. The firm's new wing will work to help clients overcome their workplace security and connectivity challenges.

The lockdown brought in to fight the Covid-19 pandemic saw companies become more reliant on decentralised digital operation systems than ever before – something which also left many firms more exposed than ever to cyber-attacks. As criminals targeted companies involved in the UK’s coronavirus response, such as outsourcing firm Interserve, experts warned that UK organisations are likely to be targeted by hackers more than ever, as they seek to exploit the chaos of the on-going crisis.

Founded in 1998, SystemsUp delivers cloud transformation engagements in the public and private sectors. The firm – which became part of cloud and datacentre managed service provider iomart Group in 2015 – has clients ranging from government departments and FTSE 100 to global blue chip companies, as well as smaller specialist organisations and application vendors across all markets.

As it looks to support its diverse client base, amid the rapidly changing digital business environment in 2020, SystemsUp has launched a new practice to help organisations overcome their workplace security and connectivity challenges. The new team will work clients ensure that end user devices are secure, applications are authorised, access to company data is controlled, and the corporate network can cope with the demands of remote working.

Nick Martin, Managing Director of SystemsUp, commented, “We want to make this new world of work a secure reality by providing expert advice and solutions to address the complex and fluid threat landscape that’s emerging. Our new practice will help transform the short-term fixes that have been put in place into resilient solutions for the long-term.”

The consultancy’s new security and connectivity practice complements its expertise across Microsoft security solutions. As a Microsoft Gold Partner with expertise in the full Microsoft 365 suite, SystemsUp consultants and technologists are familiar with working with clients to help simplify their IT environments.

Its security and connectivity offering has subsequently been developed in partnership with fellow specialists Barracuda, Silver Peak and Zscaler, to deliver “long-lasting cloud-enabled solutions for organisations with dispersed workforces.”

Commenting on the firm’s Office 365 knowhow, Martin added, “Whereas before it would take weeks or even months to implement Office 365 properly, during the pandemic it’s been done in days. Now it’s essential that organisations go back and make sure that those implementations are secure and compliant and that their data and users are fully protected.”
