IT services giant Atos has agreed to a strategic partnership with network specialist Convergence Group. The partnership will enable Atos to add Convergence products such as internet connectivity and point to point connections to its London Media Gateway (LMG), which runs on the London Fibre Network (LFN). The LMG is an established product and used by several broadcasters to exchange content securely and easily and access cutting edge technology solutions.

Convergence Group, headquartered in Solihull, Birmingham, provides managed network services to over 200 clients, including over 40 Media and Broadcast customers. The company has grown over 250% in the past three years to its current team of 70 people. Services that Convergence Group offer include National and International managed networks, network security, satellite connectivity, Media and Broadcast and recently added Public Sector Network (PSN) connectivity and services.

As part of the alliance, Convergence Group will join ‘Atos SME Harbour’, a platform recently set up by Atos UK that enables a simpler, safe and transparent way for the IT giant to partner with small and medium sized enterprises. “Atos is pleased to be partnering with a successful and innovative SME provider that specialise in network connectivity and services. We know the media organisations we work with need the very latest digital technology and connectivity in order to stay at the top of their game and this is exactly what we can provide to them,” comments Andy Whadcoat, Head of Media & Broadcast at Atos UK & Ireland.

Neal Harrison, CEO and founder of Convergence Group, says his firm is “excited” to be working alongside Atos and integrating the ‘LFN’ into the company’s existing UK network platform. “There is a clear opportunity for closer collaboration and content distribution between our collective Media and Broadcast customers. There is also a huge opportunity to utilise the extensive ‘LFN’ network reach and capacity for our business and public sector (PSN) customers. The physical fibre asset is vast and will allow us to provide some creative technical and commercial packages around high capacity network services.”

Globally, Atos has approximately 93,000 employees in 72 countries, generating €11 billion in revenues.
