Management consultancy Elixirr has installed Simon Retter as Non-Executive Corporate Finance. Retter holds the role alongside his current position as CFO with Horizonte Minerals.

Formed in the UK in 2009, Elixirr quickly expanded across multiple geographies to become an organisation of 130 people working across 16 industries and over 25 countries. The consultancy first moved into Africa, before its clients led it to grow quickly throughout Europe and the US – where revenue grew by 680% in the last year alone.

On top of this, the firm’s CAGR has been some 30% for the last seven years, and as Elixirr looks to maintain this momentum it has appointed a new Non-Executive Director. Simon Retter brings 16 years of consulting and corporate finance expertise to the role, and has also held a number of other non-executive and commercial CFO roles over the last three years.

Retter said of the news, “I’m really looking forward to working with the Elixirr team. Their approach is truly unique, and they clearly bring a whole new way of working to clients. Our key markets are responding very well to this approach, especially after seeing the strong results delivered to their business. After such success last decade, I’m excited to be a part of what we’ll deliver together as a team in the future, and to be a part of this exciting journey.”

Having trained with Big Four firm Deloitte in 2004, Retter became a Manager at the firm before leaving to take on a new role as Founding Director at Paragon Diamonds. Following six years of specialising in finance there, Retter spent a further year as a Finance Director with Vale International Group. He also took on the mantle of CFO at Horizonte Minerals – a job he still maintains alongside Non-Executive positions with HRC World and Zaim Credit Systems.

Stephen Newton, Founder and CEO of Elixirr, commented, “We’re delighted to have Simon join the team. His depth of experience and entrepreneurial mindset are the right addition to our firm. Having Simon join us at this point in our growth plan is paramount, and will only supercharge it further. I’m confident his expertise will enable us to execute on our vision to build the best consulting firm in the world.”

The news comes just months after Gavin Patterson joined Elixirr’s Board of existing senior advisors as Chair. Patterson joined the firm following his exit as the Chief Executive Officer of BT in January 2019.
