US life sciences consultancy Putnam Associates enters the UK
Putnam Associates has announced the launch of a new office in Chiswick, London. The new location sees the firm open its first presence in the UK, and take a significant step toward expanding its European profile.
The life sciences sector is currently under tremendous pressure resulting from several factors, namely an ever-ageing world population, a faster spread of diseases due to increasing international travel, and the phenomenal rise in chronic diseases. With companies already struggling to meet huge consumer expectations, moving forward, it will become increasingly difficult for companies to stay in business unless they opt for an Industry 4.0 makeover.
As firms based in the life sciences sector look to gain a competitive edge by embracing a new, innovative business model, powered by advanced technologies, consulting firms in the sector stand to see a large spike in demand. In order to meet with the growing needs of life sciences firms looking to digitalise their offering, Putnam Associates has announced the launch of two new offices, on either side of the Atlantic.
While the US strategic management healthcare consultancy added to its Stateside locales in Boston and San Francisco with the opening of a third American office in New York, the bigger news is undoubtedly its London location. The new office in leafy Chiswick represents its first expansion into the UK consulting market, and presents a major opportunity for building momentum across Europe in the years ahead.
Founded in 1988, Putnam employs over 130 people and offers specialist consultancy services across the product life cycle to life science organisations with particular strengths in product commercialisation, market access strategy and medical and scientific affairs. The firm has advised on the commercialisation of several products that have achieved blockbuster sales status in the US, and attracts top class talent from several of the leading US universities.
Now Putnam will hope to similarly attract top talent from London. In order to tap into the specialised labour market of London, Putnam plans to recruit experienced associates and management consultants across a number of roles.
Commenting on the news, Putnam Chief Executive Remco op den Kelder said, “Being part of UDG has created a number of opportunities for Putnam to leverage the infrastructure and resources of a global leader in life science services in a number of key regions. Our new office in London is a huge opportunity for us to access the European market… Our new locations will enable us to add to our talented teams as we look to recruit at every level, from senior leaders and experienced management consultants to graduates looking to start a career in the sector.”
