UHY Hacker Young has appointed a new Managing Director to its corporate finance team. Robert Kidson arrives having previously been Head of Corporate Finance at MHA Macintyre Hudson.

Since its founding in London in 1925, UHY Hacker Young Group has offered a broad range of services for owners of family businesses, including book-keeping and auditing, tax compliance and advice, corporate recovery and company secretarial services. The firm currently has over 100 Partners and 540 professional staff operating from 23 offices across the UK.

In anticipation of a busy 2020, UHY has appointed Robert Kidson as Managing Director of its corporate finance team. He takes up the role in UHY’s London office, and will advise owner-managed businesses on mergers, acquisitions and finance raising. Though he will handle transactions across all sectors, Kidson has a “particular strength” in the media sector.

Kidson said of his new challenge, “UHY Hacker Young has a great reputation for its work in corporate finance and as reporting accountants for AIM businesses. They have a very strong and loyal following amongst owner managed businesses. In addition to working with the high quality client base we will be providing our corporate finance services to a wide array of companies in the UK marketplace.”

Prior to joining UHY, Kidson was most recently a Partner and Head of Corporate Finance at MHA Macintyre Hudson, where he was also stationed in London for over four years. That was the latest chapter in a 43-year career in corporate finance, which began with Barclays. Kidson went on to hold senior positions at Deutsche Bank, Smith & Williamson, RSM Tenon (now RSM) and Moore Stephens (now Moore Global), among many others.

Speaking on his arrival, Laurence Sacker, Managing Partner at UHY Hacker Young, commented, “Robert has an excellent track record in advising owner managed businesses on mergers and acquisitions and corporate fundraising. His skills will add enormous value to UHY Hacker Young’s corporate finance offering.”
